Washington Attorney Tim Tesh devotes a substantial portion of his practice to representing children who have been physically and/or sexually abused as a result of the negligence of persons or entities charged with protecting them, including the State of Washington (through DSHS/CPS).  Together with partner Allen Ressler, Mr. Tesh has recovered multiple awards and settlements exceeding $1 million on behalf of the victims of abuse and neglect.

All too frequently we hear about tragic cases of child abuse and neglect.  Often, such cases involve imprisonment, severe beating, starvation, mental cruelty, and sexual molestation. In many cases, the abuse and neglect was not the result of an isolated action by parent or caretaker.  More typically, abuse and neglect occurs over the course of months or sometimes even years.

In Washington, we depend upon law enforcement to examine and arrest those suspected of abusing or neglecting children. We also depend upon the Washington Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) and Child Protective Services (CPS) to protect those in foster care, and to investigate suspected cases of child abuse or neglect.

Tragically, foster children are sometimes placed in the care of foster parents who should never have been admitted to the foster care system. Foster children may also placed in environments in which there is a high probability that abuse or neglect will take place.  CPS sometimes fails to properly investigate reports or referrals of child abuse.

When DSHS or CPS Fail to Do Their Job Properly, Our Children Pay the Price. This is Not Right.

Our firm is the voice for children who have been abused, and sometimes killed, as the result of the negligent actions or inaction of DSHS and CPS.  Through the courts, we demand accountability and compensation on behalf of our clients. We want society to know about the terrible injuries that have been inflicted so that the abuse and neglect suffered by our clients was not in vain.  Unfortunately, the only way that we can get the full attention for the abuse and neglect of our clients is through a lawsuit.

In addition to seeking a full recovery for this abuse and neglect, we and our clients want change. We want DSHS, CPS, and the State of Washington to understand the full set of facts and circumstances that have led to horrific abuse and neglect, and to implement changes so that such abuse and neglect does not occur again.

We would welcome the opportunity to meet with you if you or a loved one has suffered from neglect or abuse as the result of actions or the failure to take action by DSHS or CPS.  Please call us to schedule a free, no obligation consultation at your convenience. At this consultation, once we learn about the facts and circumstances of your case, we can discuss with you the options for seeking recovery that are available, and how our firm may be able to help.
