Robert S. Colton

Originally from Australia and Latvia, Robert moved to the United States to attend Whitman College, where he graduated cum laude with a B.A. in Politics, with honors, and Economics, while competing as an NCAA basketball athlete. He then moved to Olympia, working in politics and representing the interests of both public and private clients in the Washington State Legislature.

Robert received his J.D. from the University of Washington School of Law, graduating with Honors as a William H. Gates Public Service Law Scholar and serving as the Associate Editor in Chief of the Washington Law Review. While in law school, Robert interned for the King County Housing Justice Project, representing low-income clients facing eviction, and worked on national civil rights litigation as part of the National Housing Law Project. He then relocated to Washington D.C. where he served as a Legal Fellow for Senator Elizabeth Warren.

Following his law school graduation, Robert served as a law clerk to Chief Justice Debra Stephens on the Washington State Supreme Court, where he gained invaluable experience with the Washington State Court system and aided in the decision-making processes of our state’s highest court. At the conclusion of his clerkship, Robert joined Ressler & Tesh to help those who have been victimized by the abuse and neglect that results from institutional failures access the justice they deserve.

In his spare time, Robert enjoys time outdoors, playing basketball, and spending time with his family and friends.
